Anambra State Backs National Products Fair South East Edition, Strengthening Support for Made-in-Nigeria Initiative By Made in Nigeria Project Office

The Anambra State Government has officially endorsed the proposal to host the National Products Fair – South East Edition in the state, marking another significant milestone in Nigeria's drive to promote indigenous industries, strengthen local manufacturing, and expand economic opportunities across the South East.

In an official letter dated 21st July, 2026, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, the Anambra State Government responded positively to a proposal submitted by the National Brand Development and Made in Nigeria Project Office, Abuja, under the leadership of the National Coordinator and Executive Director, Hon. Nwabueze George Buchi.

The letter conveys the state government's approval in principle for Anambra State to host the regional edition of the National Products Fair, which will feature an exhibition, product showcase, and economic forum designed to promote locally manufactured products and attract investment.

Governor Soludo Endorses the Initiative

According to the correspondence, Governor Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has reviewed the proposal and approved Anambra State's hosting of the event.

The approval reflects the state's commitment to showcasing its industrial and entrepreneurial strengths while providing a platform for businesses, manufacturers, innovators, and investors to engage in productive partnerships.

Anambra has long been recognized as one of Nigeria's foremost commercial and manufacturing hubs, with thriving clusters in sectors such as manufacturing, leather works, agro-processing, fashion, technology, trade, and small-scale industries. Hosting the National Products Fair aligns with the state's broader vision of supporting enterprise development and expanding market opportunities for indigenous businesses.

Advancing the Made-in-Nigeria Agenda

The National Products Fair forms part of the broader vision of the National Brand Development and Made in Nigeria Project, which seeks to reposition Nigeria as a globally competitive production economy.

The initiative encourages consumers, businesses, investors, and government institutions to support locally made products while creating opportunities for Nigerian manufacturers to showcase quality goods, expand market access, and attract both domestic and international investment.

By bringing together producers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, financial institutions, development partners, and investors, the fair is expected to strengthen value chains and stimulate economic growth across the region.

Planning Committee to Drive Successful Implementation

To ensure the successful delivery of the event, the Anambra State Government proposed the establishment of a joint planning meeting involving representatives of the National Brand Development and Made in Nigeria Project Office and relevant state government agencies.

The planning process will focus on key operational areas, including:

  • Finalising event dates.

  • Venue selection and inspection.

  • Defining the responsibilities of participating agencies.

  • Publicity and media coordination.

  • Stakeholder engagement.

  • Vendor and exhibitor management.

  • Overall event logistics.

The collaborative approach demonstrates both parties' commitment to delivering a professionally organised event capable of attracting significant participation from businesses and investors.

Partnership Between Federal and State Institutions

The official response also highlights the importance of collaboration between federal initiatives and state governments in advancing Nigeria's economic development agenda.

The Anambra State Government expressed its readiness to continue engaging with the National Project Office while coordinating with other relevant agencies to determine suitable dates and operational arrangements.

This partnership reflects a growing recognition that promoting local production requires coordinated efforts across all levels of government.

Creating Opportunities for Businesses

The National Products Fair is expected to provide numerous benefits for participating businesses and entrepreneurs.

Manufacturers will have the opportunity to showcase their products to a wider audience, connect with distributors, retailers, investors, and export partners, while gaining valuable exposure through exhibitions and networking sessions.

The event is also expected to promote innovation, encourage technology adoption, strengthen product branding and packaging, and facilitate investment discussions capable of supporting industrial expansion.

For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the fair offers a unique platform to increase visibility, generate new business opportunities, and build lasting commercial relationships.

Supporting Regional Economic Growth

As one of the South East's leading commercial centres, Anambra State is strategically positioned to host an event of this nature.

The state's vibrant entrepreneurial culture, strong manufacturing base, and extensive trading networks make it an ideal location for showcasing the region's economic potential.

The South East Edition of the National Products Fair is expected to attract exhibitors and participants from across Nigeria, creating opportunities for knowledge exchange, investment promotion, and regional economic integration.

A Milestone for Nigeria's Industrial Future

The official approval by the Anambra State Government represents another important step in the implementation of the National Brand Development and Made in Nigeria Project.

It reinforces the growing momentum behind efforts to strengthen local industries, promote Nigerian-made products, create employment opportunities, and position Nigeria as a competitive manufacturing economy.

With planning now set to commence between the National Project Office and the Anambra State Government, the National Products Fair – South East Edition promises to become a major platform for celebrating Nigerian innovation, supporting indigenous enterprises, and advancing the nation's vision of sustainable industrial development.

As more states embrace the Made-in-Nigeria initiative, partnerships such as this continue to demonstrate how collaboration between federal and state institutions can drive inclusive economic growth, unlock investment opportunities, and build stronger markets for Nigerian products at home and abroad.
