VP Kashim Shettima to Launch Africa’s First University Innovation Pods at UNILAG

Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to inaugurate Africa’s first University Innovation Pods (UNIPOD) on April 7 at the University of Lagos, a pioneering initiative spearheaded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Nigerian Government.

The UNIPOD project is designed to transform Nigerian universities into dynamic hubs for innovation, enterprise, and job creation, bridging the persistent gap between education and industry.

Objectives of the UNIPOD Initiative

  1. Promote Innovation and Entrepreneurship
    • Equip students with practical skills to launch startups and innovative solutions
    • Foster a culture of problem-solving and enterprise development
  2. Support Digital Skills Development
    • Provide training in emerging technologies, coding, and digital tools
