United Nations Fashion Week & Awards 2026: Showcasing Made-in-Nigeria Fashion Excellence — A Catwalk to Educate a Child
Organized by the National Brand Development and Made in Nigeria Project Office, Abuja
The United Nations Fashion Week & Awards 2026, organized by the National Brand Development and Made in Nigeria Project Office, Abuja, stands as one of the most transformative fashion and social-impact events of the decade. Designed to elevate Nigerian fashion onto the global runway, the 2026 edition introduces a powerful new mission:
“A Catwalk to Educate a Child.”
This initiative positions fashion not only as an economic driver but as a humanitarian force supporting child education across Nigeria.
Nigeria’s creative industry continues to redefine global style. From Ankara to Adire, Aso-oke to contemporary couture, Nigerian designers are setting trends that resonate from Lagos to London, Abuja to New York. The event will celebrate this cultural richness, while linking every runway moment to social transformation.
Driving Nigeria’s Fashion Economy and Human Capital Development
The creative and fashion sectors remain vital pillars of Nigeria’s emerging non-oil economy. Yet the full potential of fashion, both economically and socially, remains to be unlocked. The National Brand Development and Made in Nigeria Project Office is advancing a mission that merges industry growth, global visibility, and youth empowerment through education.
The event's goals include:
-
Expanding Nigeria’s global footprint in fashion
-
Positioning Made-in-Nigeria as a world-class export category
-
Strengthening designer access to international buyers and trade networks
-
Empowering communities through the Catwalk to Educate a Child programme, where a portion of event partnerships, collaborations, and showcases supports school children in underserved communities
Every runway walk becomes a pathway for a child to learn, grow, and dream.
