Choose Nigeria Product Fair 2026 by National Brand Development and Made in Nigeria Project Office, Abuja - Building a National Brand for Development, Investment, Innovation, Technology Transfer, and Global Bilateral Trade Partnership

Introduction: A New Chapter in Nigeria’s National Brand Vision

Nigeria is stepping boldly onto the global stage with the Choose Nigeria Product Fair 2026, an international showcase organized by the National Brand Development and Made in Nigeria Project Office, Abuja, under the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).

This landmark initiative represents more than an exhibition, it is a national movement to redefine Nigeria’s global image, promote local production, attract investment, and foster sustainable trade partnerships across continents.

With the theme “Building a National Brand for Development, Investment, Innovation, Technology Transfer, and Global Bilateral Trade Partnership,” the 2026 edition aims to connect Nigeria’s industries, innovators, and entrepreneurs with global partners eager to collaborate, invest, and grow.

Nigeria’s National Brand: From Vision to Global Strategy

The National Brand Development and Made in Nigeria Project (NBD–MINP) is a statutory national program created to reposition Nigeria as a production-driven, innovation-oriented, and export-competitive economy.

Operating from Abuja under the OSGF, the Project Office is led by Hon. Nwabueze Buchi George (LLB, LLM, FME), the National Coordinator and Executive Director, whose leadership has steered the “Made in Nigeria” vision into a structured, internationally recognized brand development framework.

Its objectives go beyond trade promotion — the initiative is building a strong national identity that connects economic development with national pride.

The Choose Nigeria Product Fair 2026 - A Platform for Global Engagement

Purpose and Objectives

The Choose Nigeria Product Fair 2026 serves as a platform for:

  • Promoting Nigerian-made goods and services to international markets.

  • Attracting foreign direct investment into Nigeria’s productive sectors.

  • Facilitating technology transfer and industrial partnerships.

  • Strengthening global trade cooperation through bilateral and multilateral engagements.

  • Showcasing Nigeria’s innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurial excellence.

This fair aligns perfectly with the National Brand Development agenda, presenting Nigeria not just as an investment destination, but as a credible, competent, and creative economic partner on the world stage.

From “Made in Nigeria” to “Choose Nigeria” — A Shift in National Mindset

Beyond Production - Towards Perception

The “Made in Nigeria” campaign began as a movement to encourage citizens to support locally manufactured goods. Today, under the National Brand Development framework, it has evolved into “Choose Nigeria”,  a holistic identity and policy-driven brand that highlights Nigeria’s industrial capacity, innovation potential, and international competitiveness.

National Pride Meets Global Standards

By integrating quality assurance, brand development, and export readiness into one platform, “Choose Nigeria” redefines what it means to buy, produce, and invest in Nigeria. It encourages not just patronage, but preference, urging global stakeholders to choose Nigeria as a brand of excellence.

Core Focus Areas of the 2026 Fair

1. Industrialization and Local Manufacturing

Highlighting Nigeria’s manufacturing sectors — from textiles, construction materials, and consumer goods to agro-processing and industrial equipment — the fair will showcase how Nigerian industries are evolving to meet international demand.

2. Technology and Innovation

The event will feature innovators, startups, and digital enterprises presenting breakthrough solutions in Fintech, automation, energy, and trade logistics. The goal is to connect Nigeria’s vibrant tech ecosystem with global investors and technology partners.

3. Agriculture and Agro-Exports

Agribusiness remains one of Nigeria’s strongest sectors. The fair will promote export-ready agricultural products and technologies for value addition, post-harvest management, and cross-border agritrade.

4. Trade, Bilateral Partnerships, and Diplomacy

Through B2B, B2G, and G2G sessions, the fair will strengthen Nigeria’s relationships with partner nations, expanding global trade cooperation and encouraging joint ventures that create jobs and technology exchange.

5. Creative Economy and Cultural Branding

Fashion, art, design, film, and music will also take center stage, showcasing Nigeria’s creative industries as part of the country’s national brand identity and soft-power diplomacy.

  4. Nigeria Is Losing Billions to Rejected Agro-Exports — Not Because Our Produce Is Bad, But Because We Package It Wrong.

Nigeria’s agro-produce is globally sought-after — yet too many shipments are turned back at foreign ports.
The issue isn’t quality; it’s packaging, documentation, and traceability.

The Shippers Association of Lagos reports that about 82% of exportable agro-produce faces seizure or prohibition abroad.
The World Bank warns that losses from rejected exports could reach $15 billion by 2025.

As WTO’s Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala explained, Nigeria lost its edge in agricultural exports because our products don’t meet international sanitary and phytosanitary standards.

And AfDB President Dr. Akinwumi Adesina noted:
“We were producing more than we could process. Food losses were high due to a lack of appropriate storage, logistics, and packaging infrastructure.”

With the rollout of the AfDB’s Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) in Kaduna and Cross River, attention is shifting toward value addition, better processing, and export readiness.

For the Nigerian agro trade, the real differentiator now lies in:

    Packaging that meets international specifications

    Digital traceability across supply chains

Documentation that builds visibility and trust

Global buyers don’t just pay for produce — they pay for compliance, traceability, and transparency.
That’s what must continue to define and strengthen the Nigerian agro trade.
